FAQs

membership:

Q: How much is a membership?
A: Memberships are paid in 2 ways, either monthly or by the year. The yearly membership cost is listed on the membership page, it varies depending on what type of membership you are looking for. Monthly is paid by bank draft. There is a start-up fee (plus the first month's payment) and then the monthly amount is drafted from your checking account. The benefit to the draft plan is that you can cancel at any time but you MUST give 30 days notice. All of these fees are listed on the membership page.

Q: I can not afford the membership costs. Is there any way I can become a member?
A: We realize that not all our members will be able to afford the Y. We do offer financial assistance, which is very easy to apply for and receive. Contact the Membership office at 228-9622 for more information, or to have a packet sent to you.

Q: What is the difference between a member and a program member?
A: A full membership gives you more benefits. Full members have free selected classes and reduce fees on others. Full members also have full use of the facility. Program members can only sign-up for specific classes, and their classes are more expensive. However, if you have a young child or do not think you will use anything other than a class or two, the program membership may be the better option for you.

Q: I would like to come work out for a day. How much will it cost?
A: A day pass (one day membership) is $10 for adults (18 and up), $8 for ages 14-17 and $5 for anyone 13 years old or younger.

Q: I am a member from out of state and I will be in your area soon. What will it cost for me to use your facility?
A: We are participants in the Y's Away Program, meaning that we welcome members from other YMCA's. Our policy is that you get 6 free visit a year, then any visit after that you pay half the day pass price (so an adult day pass, which is $10 would only cost you $5.)

Q: I belong to another YMCA but I would like to transfer that membership to your Y. How do I go about doing that?
A: Switching Y's is a very easy process. We request that you either bring or fax us a letter from your current YMCA telling us that you are a member and what your monthly or yearly payment is. Then we will either start a bank draft here with you, or transfer the remaining yearly balance here. There is no start-up fee for transferring members.

Q: I have Cigna/Anthem/Blue Cross. Do I get any discounts?
A: When you sign-up for membership, if you bring in your insurance card you receive 10% off the joining fee. Each insurance group has a different program, but they all have one. You have to come in a certain number of times a month for 6 months and then they will reimburse you. However, the insurance companies request that you inquire with them, because of the variety of their programs and their availability.

swim lessons:

Q: I would like to enroll my child in swimming lessons. How do I do this?
A: Swim lessons are available for Full Members and Program Members. On the homepage of our site, there is a list of dates under the heading "Registration Dates." It then tells you what day registration starts. Program member sign up starts a week later than Full members. You can stop by the YMCA or call us at 228-9622 to register over the phone (you must pay by credit card to do this.)

Q: What swim level should I put my child in?
A: If you are not sure which level to place your child in, any time there is a youth/open swim you can bring your child in. The lifeguard on duty can give them a swim test that will help them evaluate your child's ability. The lifeguard can then tell you what level is best for your swimmer.
