Beginning with Bible classes and discussion groups for factory workers, it gradually added both physical equipment and personnel to meet the growing need of young men around the world who had moved to cities to find work and social interaction. The first YMCA in the United States was established in Boston in the year 1851. For more information about the YMCA movement, visit http://www.ymca.net/.
