Our Y

Our Mission Promise

Our promise is to strengthen the foundation of community through a focus on youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living.

Our Cause

The Y is a cause-driven organization. Our promise is to strengthen the foundation of community through a focus on youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living. We are the leader in our community in providing value-based health and wellness programs for children, teens and adults. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

  • We are community centered. Since 1852, we’ve been listening and responding to the needs of the Concord community.
  • We bring people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
  • We nurture potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

For Youth Development
Nurturing the potential of every child and teen

We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors through childcare, after school and camping programs, and can explore their unique talents and interests in the pool.

The Concord Family YMCA is the largest provider of childcare, both pre-school and after school, in Merrimack County.  Our philosophy of to is to strengthen the foundation of our community by nurturing the potential of every child. The Concord Family YMCA is a State Certified License Plus childcare provider.  License Plus is a certification established by the NH Bureau of Childcare Licensing that is certification of a higher level of quality.  The Concord Family YMCA’s Child Development programs are only one of about 11% of all licensed childcare providers in New Hampshire that have achieved License Plus certification. Our Programming is infused with the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. A central component of our childcare programs is our financial assistance program, which enables moderate and low income families to enroll their children in our classes. The combination of quality, core values, and affordability helps our pre-schoolers to be better prepared for public school and our after schoolers to realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Healthy Living
Improving the nation’s health and well-being

In addition to over fifty-five free group exercise classes offered weekly the Concord Family YMCA incorporates the concept of healthy living throughout all of our Programs and services.  From the free Commit To Be Fit Program for adults to the CATCH Curriculum, and other youth related programming and policies focused on regular physical activity and appropriate nutrition, helps the more than 3,500 children we serve annually to establish and maintain healthier, life-long habits.

Social Responsibility
Giving back and providing support to our neighbors

The Concord Family YMCA gives back working with over thirty social service and community-based organizations through partnerships, and free or discounted programs and services.  This includes organizations such as the Friends Program, Easter Seals, Payson Center for Cancer Care, Project Second Start, Special Olympics, to mention a few.  Two of our most comprehensive partnerships are;

The Capital Area Wellness Coalition (CAWC):  Working together with over thirty-five organizations and individuals, we collaborate by leveraging our collective resources to help improve the health and wellness of the greater Concord community. The Concord Family YMCA leveraged Y-USA’s partnership with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to successfully apply for a Healthier Communities grant for $46,000, to benefit the CAWC, and the greater Concord community.

The In-Shape Program (our partnership with Riverbend Community Mental Health Center): This partnership helps individuals diagnosed with Severe Mental Illness to significantly improve their health and wellness.  In addition to contributing to the development of one of the most innovative and promising therapeutic models in the field of mental health treatment, our Y community, both members and staff, are helping to break down the negative stigma associated with mental illness through its acceptance by and integration of the In-Shape participants within our Y family.

OUR MISSION PROMISE: To strengthen the foundation of community through a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
